Plain sailing for RiverVoyages as bookings surge

RIVER cruise holiday specialist RiverVoyages.com, is reporting a surge of 400% in bookings so far this year.

The operator, part of Chorley company World Travel Holdings UK,
says it is benefiting from both a rise in popularity for this type of holiday, plus also better pricing and an improved online marketing spend.

Director James Cole said: “We have seen a huge upsurge in web traffic over the past few months for searches on river cruise related terms.

“Our customers are telling us that they particularly enjoy the unique river cruise experience, which involves smaller, more sociable ships and direct access to some of the world’s most impressive cities including Paris, New Orleans, Nashville and Ho Chi Minh City to name but a few.

“This mode of cruise offers a special insight into a destination, viewing landmarks from a totally different perspective as well as enjoying a completely hassle-free trip.”

RiverVoyages.com launched in 2011.Some of the company’s most popular destinations so far in 2013 include the Volga, Yangtze, Douro and the Elbe alongside of new emerging river destinations such as the Mississippi.

World Travel Holdings’ other holiday brands are Cruise118.com, sixstarcruises.co.uk, Cruises.com, CheapCruises.com and SixStarHolidays.co.uk. It employs 80 staff at its Chorley headquarters and 30 home-based agents.
