Property briefs: New Warrington care home, Worsley shed deal, and more…

WORK is underway in Warrington to transform an old brewery site into a £9.5m care centre.

It is being developed by Nantwich-based CLS Care Services and will be called Belong Warrington.

It will have 18 apartments for people who require specialist nursing or have dementia. The centre should open next year and is expected to employ 100 people. It has been designed by Altrincham-based Pozzoni Architects.

CLS chief executive Nick Dykes said: “Belong villages are not only designed to provide exceptional housing and care for their residents, they also provide a valuable resource at the heart of the community, offering members of the local community a range of facilities, activities, domiciliary care and day care.”

THE Liverpool office of architects Broadway Malyan has won the job to revamp Everton Park.

It was up against bids from Austin Smith Lord, Cass Associates, FVMA and Studio Three.

The plan is to turn the park into a “Destination Hub”, or major visitor attraction.

Broadway Malyan’s design includes an information centre, event and gallery space and café and was deemed to make best use of the park’s panoramic views of the city and the River Mersey.

Director Matt Brook said: “This was an exciting project for us to work on and people clearly responded to the way we made use of the existing environment, especially the staggering views.

“We explored the notion of ‘reveal’ by combining the landscape with a linear east to west facing building so that the full panorama is concealed and only revealed once the visitor reaches the tip of the building, maximising the impact of the vista and enhancing the visitor experience.”

When finalised, Broadway Malyan’s design will be submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund, for a funding assessment.
