Consortium wins £64m student halls brief

THE University of Salford has awarded the construction of a 1,367-bed student accommodation scheme to a consortium of four companies.

The £64m project will be delivered by preferred development partner Salford Villages Consortium, which includes includes London-based infrastructure investor Equitix, student halls operator Campus Living Villages, also in London, and construction firms Kier and Graham.

Work on the halls at the university’s Peel Park campus will start in November. Once completed the accommodation will be managed by Campus Living Villages which has operated three halls at the university since 2008.

Sean McKeown, commercial director at Campus Living Villages, said: “CLV’s sole business is student accommodation and as a global provider we have a highly experienced team that understands how to deliver the best in student residences to a highly international market. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with the University of Salford to continue to enhance the student experience for our customers.”
 
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Salford, Professor Martin Hall, said: “The brand new accommodation and excellent onsite facilities will enhance campus life by providing a fantastic base for our students. It’s a central part of our regeneration plans to offer a student experience that’s second to none in the UK.”
