Appointments: Andy Lees joins Palatine Private Equity & more

ANDY Lees has joined Palatine Private Equity from the corporate team at Barclays.
Mr Lees, who led Barclays’ team in the North West, has over 20 years’ experience in corporate finance, private equity and banking.
At Palatine the avid Manchester City fan will be reunited with former Aberdeen Murray Johnstone colleague and fellow Blue Gary Tipper.
He has previously held positions at Ernst & Young, Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity (AMJPE) and Barclays Ventures.
Whilst at AMJPE, he worked on several transactions with the Palatine partners including: the £15m MBO Plaxton Coaches; The £16m buy-in management buyout (BIMBO) of aerospace engineering firm Brookhouse Holdings; and the £39m secondary buyout of fit-out contractor Styles & Wood.
He said: “I am looking forward to working with the Palatine team again. I’ll be using my experience and contacts in the Northern business community to help continue to cement Palatine’s strong reputation in the regions of the UK. They have already made a strong start to the year following the Playnation and Chase Templeton deals, so now is an exciting time to be joining.”

TWO chartered accountants have landed senior promotions at North West accountancy firm Moore & Smalley.
Ian Clark and Colin Johnson have become partners at the firm, which has offices in Preston, Blackpool, Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancaster and Nottingham.
Clark, from Windermere, joined the firm as a trainee in 1985 and heads up its audit team in Kendal, as well as advising a number of owner-managed businesses across Cumbria.
A leisure and tourism specialist, Johnson, has been with the firm since 1993 and works with small and medium-sized business across Cumbria. They are both based at the firm’s Kendal office.
Moore and Smalley employs 18 partners and over 200 staff at its offices.

GVA’s planning, development and regeneration (PDR) team in Manchester has made two strategic hires.
Justin Clough and Jane Lathwood have both joined as associates. Mr Clough was previously at Mouchel where he most recently provided advice in property strategy, acquisition and disposal for the Co-operative Group. Ms Lathwood joins from Bolton-based Miller Metcalfe Commercial. She has also worked for King Sturge, Nationwide and Prospect (GB).

SALE-based integrated agency One Marketing Communications has expanded its PR department with the appointment of account manager Dave Beresford.
He is a former journalist and has spent 11 years working in the media including a stint working for the APN newspaper group in Australia.
