Stark Brooks names new chief executive

RECRUITMENT firm Stark Brooks has shuffled its senior leadership team with the appointment of Gron Ffoulkes-Davies as chief executive.

Mr Ffoulkes-Davies, an accountant and former finance director of bioscience firm Tepnel Life Sciences, initially took on the role temporarily last year after his wife, chief executive and Stark Brooks owner Sally Toumi was diagnosed with breast cancer.

After surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy at The Christie in Manchester, Sally Toumi, 44, is now back at work, and as chairman of the business, plans to focus on business development and fund-raising for The Christie.

He said: “I am delighted to become chief executive of Stark Brooks on a permanent basis and look forward to working with Sally and the rest of the team to drive the development of this well-established and respected business.”

Mrs Toumi added: “I feel fantastic and am more ambitious than ever for the business. Gron’s commercial background and operational experience make him the ideal person to take Stark Brooks forward.

“His appointment gives me the opportunity to reflect on the business and to tackle other things I am passionate about.”

Four weeks after completing her treatment, Sally abseiled 140ft down the front of the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand at Old Trafford stadium, raising more than £3,000 for The Christie.

Stark Brooks, which has a team of 15 staff in Manchester and Leeds was founded in Manchester in 1983 by Lucille Stark and Colin Brooks.

Sally Toumi joined in 1993 and acquired the business in 2001.  The agency recruits in the UK and abroad for management and executive roles across all disciplines, including finance, sales, human resources and administration.
