Addleshaws opens in Hong Kong

LAW firm Addleshaw Goddard has opened an office in Hong Kong to target opportunities in the Far East.
It has also made London-based head of private equity Andrew Carpenter the managing partner for a newly created international division.
The division will consist of the teams based full-time in Addleshaw Goddard’s overseas offices, together with a number of UK partners supporting their work.
The firm said Mr Carpenter and Manchester-based Jonathan Tattersall will each spend time in the new office, building closer links with the business community in Hong Kong and China. Yunus Seedat, head of corporate in Leeds, will take Mr Carpenter’s place as head the private equity team.
Managing partner Paul Devitt said: “We have made very significant progress against the targets we set ourselves 12 months ago which included establishing offices in new and expanding international markets and more generally offering clients a stronger, more diverse cross-border capability.
“In addition to Hong Kong, we opened our first international office in Singapore, and have quickly built a strong full service capability in the Middle East through new offices in Dubai and Oman and we see good opportunities for growth in that region.”
He added: “Andrew has played a formative role in those developments and deservedly becomes our first international divisional managing partner. The need for a new division is a measure of our recent progress, as well as our future ambitions, and will ensure we deliver to clients the benefits of a fully integrated high quality, borderless client service anywhere in the world.”
