Tesco chief to speak at Stock Exchange event

RETAIL supremo Sir Terry Leahy and the boss of the London Stock Exchange, Xavier Rolet, are speaking at a high-level event in the region next month.

Liverpool-born, Manchester University educated Sir Terry, chief executive of Tesco, will be speaking on ‘The need for capital’ at the event at Liverpool Town Hall.

Organised by the London Stock Exchange and Shore Capital the morning event on September 17 is themed ‘Access to corporate funding, the role of equity capital markets’ and is aimed at public and private company directors and also advisers.

As well as Sir Terry and Mr Rolet speakers include: John Young, North West agent for the Bank of England, who will give an economic overview; Alan Rigby, HSBC’s head of Corporate Banking in the region; fund manager Andrew Crossley of Invesco Perpertual; Graham Shore, managing director of Shore Capital and Neil Johnson, finance director of Blackburn company Promethean World – one of few firms to float this year.
