Topping family sell Bolton Garden Centre

BOLTON Garden Centre, formerly Barton Grange Garden Centre, has been acquired by the Garden Centre Group.

The Middlesex-based group has bought the site from Barton Grange Group for an undisclosed sum.

Barton Grange, based in Preston, is owned by the Topping family.

The deal is the first conducted by the Garden Centre Group since it was taken over by private equity house Terra Firma last year. It now has a portfolio of 130 centres.

Guy Topping, director of the Barton Grange Group, said: “I have been personally involved with Barton Grange Bolton from the very beginning, even helping to build the garden centre.

“I would like to thank all the staff at Bolton who have contributed to its success during our years there.  The business is now well placed to build on that success with the backing of The Garden Centre Group and Terra Firma, who have been a pleasure to deal with.”

Russell Davidson of Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley gave legal advice to The Garden Centre Group, while the vendor was advised by Harrison Drury.
