Revenue up 20% at showbiz events organiser Taylor Lynn

EVENT organiser Taylor Lynn Corporation, which counts TV celebrities such as Eamonn Holmes amd pop stars including Gary Barlow among its clients, has reported a strong year of growth.

The Manchester company said it had overcome a tough market place to increase turnover by 20% to nearly £3m and profits by a similar proportion in the year to April.

TLC, as it is known, said a focus on developing private business in response to continued challenges in the corporate market, had paid off.

Managing director and founder Liz Taylor said: “We worked hard to last year to develop our private events business in compensation for the tough situation with the corporate market.

“TLC has continued to thrive through a number of difficult economic situations over the last 20 years by being able to adapt our events to suit the changing priorities and budgets of our clients, but by always working on strong customer retention through the delivery of top quality and innovatively-staged events.”

The five-stong firm said it had used the increased profits to pay-down borrowings on a £250,000 investment in a new HQ on Chester Road, Old Trafford.

The company is now investing in a mobile version of its website to make it accessible to users of tablets and smartphones. It is also embarking on a social media campaign using LinkedIn, Twitter and Pinterest.

Liz Taylor said: “The success of last year has enabled me to take the next steps with the company. This has meant being able to make substantial payments to reduce the business debt related to my new Manchester premises, where we relocated and renovated last year and which was a bold investment for us, as well as to move forward with our marketing activities.

“With much improved corporate business and strong private events on the books for 2013/14, TLC is looking to have another positive year ahead and we aim to strengthen our position as a leading event company in the UK.”

The company’s corporate clients include ITV Granada, UEFA, Minster Law, JD Williams, BGL and Manchester United FC.  TLC was also appointed as the official event’s organiser of the Coronation Street 50th anniversary celebrations.
