James Briggs invests in site upgrades

LONG-standing manufacturer James Briggs, which supplies aerosols and speciality chemicals to the automotive, industrial and hygiene sectors, has completed a £350,000 investment programme.

The business, which was recently acquired by Endless, saw it  upgrade its solvent bulk storage tanks and launch a new website.

The investment in new storage tanks includes the commissioning of a new bulk tank farm following the installation of six new storage vessels to replace old units.

The project also includes a number of elements to improve health, safety and sustainability such as new high-level alarms, flame arrestors and pressure release valves.

Managig director Mark Lyth said: “The new tank farm installation shows a real long-term commitment to the business. This significant investment is helping us to create a safer environment and improving the service we can offer our customers.”

Addison Projects was construction design and management coordinator on the project and Hawkins Construction was principal contractor. The old storage tanks were recycled by European Metal Recycling.

The company has also invested significantly in a new, smartphone-friendly website, which will ugraded further in the coming months to include an online sales platform and instant messaging service for customers.

James Briggs was founded in 1830 and designs, formulates and manufactures a wide range of products including paints, lubricants, cleaning fluids and polishes for automotive, industrial, hygiene and other sectors. It employs nearly 200 staff on two manufacturing sites in Royton and Chadderton.
