Fletchers Solicitors is seeking five solicitors with at least four years’ medical litigation experience to join its 20-strong specialist team.

The Southport firm has reported a 25% increase in the volume of cases it has received against medical professionals and healthcare bodies since the start of the year, compared with 2012.

Chief executive Ed Fletcher said: “Cuts to NHS funding have had a clear impact on front-line services, and in a culture where mistakes are actively concealed, more patients are at risk of harm.

“The revelations of the Mid Staffordshire scandal and now the findings of the Keogh review have highlighted the poor standards of care in our hospitals. As a result, an increasing number of people who have suffered from medical negligence are starting to realise they are not alone and feel justified in finding answers.”
