Pannone partners ‘back Slater & Gordon deal’

PARTNERS at Manchester law firm Pannone have voted for a deal to effectively break up, with a sale of the majority of the business to Australian legal consolidator Slater & Gordon.

Pannone and Slater & Gordon – which is listed on the Australian stock market -have steadfastly declined to comment on the potential tie-up, which industry title The Lawyer reports will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

It is understood that a meeting was held on Monday, where the proposals were accepted by 75% of members with voting rights.

While Slater & Gordon, which is in the throes of completing on a deal to buy Fentons, will take all Pannone’s comsumer-facing teams, the commercial division is thought to be launching as a stand-alone business led by litigation partner Paul Jonson.

Should the deal be confirmed Slater & Gordon, through its ownership of Pannone, Russell Jones & Walker and Fentons, would be one of the largest firms in Manchester.
