Printerland toasts record sales in milestone year

INVESTMENT in e-commerce has boosted sales and profits at Printerland, the reseller of printers and inks in its 20th year in business.
The Altrincham-based group said turnover had soared 28% to £22m and is on track to top £30m in the current financial year. Profits fin the year to the end of March have rocketed 58% to £1.6m.
Co-founder and managing director, James Kight, said the 30-strong company’s growth was result of significant investment.
He explained: “The team has worked tirelessly to ensure Printerland is growing all the time, and we have seen this come to fruition with this year’s accounts.
“We’ve invested significantly in a new website and e-commerce management system to make purchasing easier, as well as strengthening our sales strategies to target vertical markets, identifying those with a real scope for growth, and refocusing our efforts in those areas.
“We’ve also launched a managed print service team, allowing Printerland to offer additional services to customers.”
The company celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. It was launched by Mr Kight and business partner, Graham Vickers, in 1993.
Mr Vickers, who is also still involved in the business, added: “Our balance sheet is strong, and we’re concentrating on expanding our sales and customer service teams to allow us to grow our existing accounts, while proactively targeting new customers.
“We’re forecasting £30m for this year, but I am going to push hard for £32m. We have a great team in place and we have never been in a better position to grow quickly.”
The company has not only focused on the domestic market and in 2012 opened a South African office in 2012, its first overseas territory.
Mr Vickers is leading the expansion overseas and is seeking acquisitions, both home and abroad.
