Mulbury secures finance for 600 homes

DEVELOPER Mulbury Homes has secured £12.3m to build over 600 new homes across the North West.

The Lymm-based company plans to build the properties over the next three years after successfully bidding for grants from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The money is from a share of a £220m pot being made available to developers and housing associations to build new affordable homes.

In total Mulbury Homes is set to develop 616 units on behalf of North West housing associations, including 108 in Liverpool, 78 in Warrington, 57 in Manchester, 56 in Preston, 38 in Salford, 21 in Colne and 32 in Blackburn.

They will be developed alongside a number of care schemes including 118 properties in Warrington, 90 in Rochdale, and 60 in Preston. These properties will be delivered under its Mulbury Care brand which specialises in homes for older people.

Director Greg Mulligan said: “As we look to continue our steady growth, this latest round of grant funding will enable us to deliver even more affordable homes in North West locations that need them the most.

“Since 2011, we are constructing or have completed projects worth more than £50m, created new jobs and supported hundreds more in the construction sector, and have seen growth year-on-year. With over three years of work already on our order book, and no debt, we’re in a really strong position and remain on the look-out for further opportunities to grow the business.”
