Cartwright wins TNT order

BROADHEATH-based trailer manufacturer Cartwright has neared the completion of an order for 300 rigid box vans from TNT Express.

Currently, 220 are in operation across TNT Express’ national network, with a further 80 scheduled for delivery in November.

They first went into build towards the end of July for TNT Express’ latest vehicle replacement programme, which takes place on a seven year cycle. The vehicles are replaced on a one-to-one basis as they come to the end of their operating life.

The order includes a number of new features as part of the new design, including the rear roof of the body which has been altered to be more aerodynamic. The roof pod has also been redesigned to be more in line with the roof.

Cartwright has used lighter weight materials, reducing the body weight by 250kg benefiting fuel savings and improving fuel consumption.

Steven Cartwright, joint managing director of Cartwright said: “This has been a new build constructed to a new aerodynamic design with some important key features including lighter materials that have reduced the weight of the box vans considerably.”
