New premises drive growth for funeral firm

KAVANAGH and Coates Funeral Services has bought and renovated a former ladies gym adjacent to its premises in Heywood, increasing the business’ size fourfold.

The new premises will greatly extend the firm’s capacity, including the provision of on-site garaging for funeral vehicles, a new reception area, viewing chapels, a preparation room and offices.

Co-owner Frank Coates said: “The new building will be a huge boost for the business, enabling it to offer an increased range of services on site and this new expansion is a real investment in our long term commitment to Heywood.”

Co-owner Anthony Kavanagh added: “This month marks our ten year anniversary and it’s amazing to see how much we have grown in that time. We have made sure that we are able to handle every aspect of a funeral for our clients, including flowers, catering, funeral services, bereavement counselling and after funeral support, which has been the key aspect of our success.

“Being very much a family business with my son and Frank’s son-in-law working with us along with seven other part-time staff, we aim to offer a comforting and friendly environment.”

Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking’s healthcare banking team provided the funds to purchase and renovate the new premises under the government-backed Funding for Lending Scheme, through which customers across all sectors receive a 1% discount on all new loans.
