Bardsley wins new Blackburn College contract

BARDSLEY Construction has won a £3.9m contract at Blackburn College to design and build its Regional Automotive Technology Hub (RATH).

The two-storey centre of excellence for the automotive industry is due to be completed by next summer.

It will feature teaching and training facilities including automotive workshops, auto electrics, a paint workshop, IT labs and teaching classrooms.

Bardsley, based in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester, has previously delivered three other buildings for Blackburn College. The latest job takes the value of its work at the college to £35.2m.

Director Ged Rooney said: “This latest contract for Blackburn College once again proves that we are being recognised and rewarded for our expertise in the provision of specialist teaching and training facilities for further education institutions.”

Derek Heap, deputy director of resources at Blackburn College, said: “It’s great to be working with such an experienced site team that understand the constraints of working in a town centre educational campus.”

The architect on the scheme is Manchester-based DLA Architecture.
