Paul Lee retires from Addleshaws after 40 years

LEADING Manchester lawyer Paul Lee has retired from Addleshaw Goddard after 40 years’ service.

Mr Lee, who led the firm, then Addleshaw Sons & Latham into mergers with Yorkshire firm Booth & Co and then City of London firm Theodore Goddard in 2003.

Mr Lee, who lives in Didsbury,  said: “I very much appreciate my huge good fortune in having been able to be part of this great firm for a very long time.

“It was a great privilege to lead the firm as Senior Partner and I wish the current leadership team, the partners and staff every success as the firm progresses through the next important and exciting stages of its growth.”

Current senior partner Monica Burch added:  “Paul has made an outstanding contribution and given much to our firm over many years, always with a focus on and a real commitment to the two things which remain core to our business: our people and our clients. He retires with our very best wishes and thanks for his dedication over the last 40 years.”

Cambridge-educated Mr Lee was originally a corporate lawyer before becoming managing partner of Addleshaw Sons & Latham in 1991, and senior partner of Addleshaw Booth & Co in 1997.

A former chairman of the CBI in the North West, in October 2009 he was  appointed chairman of the Horserace Betting Levy Board, an appointment made by the Secretary of State for the Department of Culture Media & Sport.
 
Outside work he has been heavily involved in Manchester’s cultural sector. He is currently chairman of the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester and Chairman of the Feoffees of Chetham’s School of Music.
