130-year-old textiles firm Brookmann folds

A MANCHESTER textiles firm that has been in business since 1877 has gone into administration.
Paul Flint and Brian Green from KPMG were appointed to Brookmann Home Manchester 1877 last month and sold the assets to its directors – Charles Johnson and Myron Mann – through a vehicle incorporated earlier this year called Vantona Home.
The deal has saved eight jobs and means the continuation of the Vantona bedding brand which it inherited following the £6m acquisition of the Dawson Home Group two years ago.
The Ardwick-based firm was owned by Berkshire-based Brookmann Home which went into liquidation in October.
Mr Flint and Mr Green were previously appointed joint supervisors of the company, following the acceptance of a proposal for a voluntary arrangement by its creditors and members on May 28.
