Eric Wright to recreate Lowry painting

A JOINT venture between construction group Eric Wright and the social landlord Your Housing has been selected for the next phases of the Covent Garden residential scheme in Stockport.

The work will involve recreating housing on Crowther Street that was captured in a 1930 LS Lowry painting.

According to council papers detailing the bid process, 124 one, two, three and four-bed houses will be built over the next four years.

The houses will be constructed in the London Square area and on Crowther Street.

Some 35 will be sold on the open market while 79 will be a mix of rental and shared ownership properties.

Eric Wright and Your Housing were selected over a rival bid from Countryside Properties.

The first two phases each consist of 46 and 41 houses respectively. The work is being handled by ID4 Living Group which has already completed the first phase.

The details are in a document prepared for a meeting of the environment and economy scrutiny committee on December 5.
