Bardsley hired for X1 scheme

BARDSLEY Construction has been hired to build a £3.4m student accommodation block in Salford.

The five-storey, 109-bed scheme is being brought forward by X1 Developments across the road from a housing and retail development around the Bell Tower pub which is the first part of the £650m Salford Central regeneration project.

Bardsley, based in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester, is due to complete construction next in September 2014 in time for the new academic year.

Managing director Paul Strutt, said: “Working in partnership with X1 Developments and its partners allows us to bring our expertise in the provision of high quality accommodation for the education sector to a key development in the heart of Salford.

“We’re benefiting from an upturn in construction activity in the North West of England as businesses feel sufficiently confident in the economic outlook and their own prospects to shed the shackles of the recession and return to putting spades in the ground.

“Volumes of new work for Bardsley are getting back to the levels achieved during the busier periods of several years ago and we look forward to a further strengthening of our order book in 2014.”
