Premex buys fraud investigation business

INSURANCE claims investigations firm Insight has bought Leeds-based AGS Risk Solutions which probes suspected financial crime.

Insight, part of Bolton-based medical legal reports specialist Premex, said the acquisition would expand its range of services.

AGS carries out investigations for insurance companies, banks and law firms. It was owned by Mark Wilcox who has stayed with the business. The value of the deal was not disclosed. It is understood AGS has around 30 staff.

Insight’s managing director Gordon Healiss said: “This is an exciting new development for our business, and one which underlines our commitment to diversification and expanding our portfolio of services to target markets.

“AGS has an excellent mixture of products and personnel, many of whom are household names in the fraud and financial crime investigations sector. We look forward to supporting their continued growth and success as part of the ExamWorks family.”

Mr Wilcox said: “We are very proud to be joining the ExamWorks family and I am confident that alongside Insight, AGS will be able to continue growing its services, helping customers reduce risk and minimise the impact of fraud and financial crime. Having invested a substantial amount in technology, data and personnel, particularly in the past twelve months AGS’ expertise blends extremely well with the Insight offering.”

In 2011 Premex was acquired by New York Stock Exchange-listed ExamWorks, in a £66m cash and shares deal.
