Asian orders drive sales at Lattimer

SOUTHPORT precision engineering firm Lattimer has seen strong sales in South East Asia drive group revenues to more than £10m.

Lattimer has a manufacturing facility in the US as well as a Birmingham-based arm, Lattimer Glass Services, that specialises in rebuilding and repairing of machines used for manufacturing glass bottles.

Exports now account for 80% of total sales after recent five-figure deals in the Philippines and Indonesia. The firm has also seen a further sales hike in Australia and New Zealand.

Chief executive officer Stephen Waterhouse said: “Our strong overseas trade throughout 2013 has given us tremendous platform to drive greater awareness of our services.

“Lattimer is globally renowned for being one of the world’s most highly skilled and experienced manufacturers of parts for the glass container manufacturing industry. As a result we are seeing some of the largest deals we have ever secured in South East Asia.

“However, this is still only the tip of the iceberg. We still see a lot more potential to grow in the bottled glass container industry and are actively looking to work with more factory managers and original equipment manufacturers worldwide.”

Lattimer employs 150 staff who produce more than 20,000 specially engineered components mainly for the bottled glass industry.
