Morgan Sindall picks up New Bailey car park contract

MORGAN Sindall has been appointed to build a 615-space multi-storey car park at English Cities Fund’s (ECf) New Bailey scheme in Salford.
The car park forms the second phase of the scheme along with a 125,000 sq ft office block.
Funding for both is coming from Legal and General which committed £60m last month and a pre-let for the car park has been lined up with NCP.
Legal & General is a joint venture partner in ECf which also includes Morgan Sindall’s urban regeneration arm Muse and the Homes and Communities Agency.
ECf is working on the £650m Salford Central scheme which includes the £95m New Bailey project, which sits either side of Irwell Street, across the river from Spinningfields. A Premier Inn hotel is also being built as part of the project.
Phil Mayall, development director at ECf, said: “The start of construction of the multi-storey car park marks the beginning of the second phase of development at New Bailey and this will be followed by a 125,000 sq ft office, which will begin in September.
“We will then have a total of four schemes on site within the 44-acre Salford Central scheme with a combined development value of £95m – and many more to follow.”
