Last chance to attend Bobby Moore Fund Celebrity Sports Quiz

BETTING giant Betfred has been announced as the official title sponsor of this evening’s The Bobby Moore Fund Manchester Celebrity Sports Quiz.

The quiz, which takes place at the Palace Hotel has been held for two years and is being sponsored for the first time this year.

The Bobby Moore Fund was established by Stephanie Moore MBE in partnership with Cancer Research UK in 1993.

The fund was set-up in memory of her husband, World Cup hero, Bobby Moore OBE, who died from bowel cancer.

All proceeds made from the quiz night will be donated to the More Tomorrows fundraising campaign for the new Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC) which is being built in Withington.  Last year’s quiz raised £60,000 for the campaign.

Betfred founder and owner, Fred Done, said: “At Betfred we’re committed to supporting people and forming charitable partnerships. We’re proud to support such an important cause for the Manchester community and hope that donations exceed last year’s total.”

The event is being hosted by sports presenters Colin Murray, Mark Chapman, Clare Tomlinson and Vicky Gomersall.

Last year, the quiz attracted a host of sporting celebs, including John Barnes, Roy Keane, Ricky Hatton, Gareth Southgate, Pat Nevin and Kevin Sheedy.

Stephanie Moore said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Betfred for their support and generosity.

“We are confident that the 2014 quiz will be the most exciting yet and prove a great fundraiser for the More Tomorrows campaign.”

In Manchester alone, around 1,900 people are diagnosed with cancer every year – that’s five families affected every day.

There is still some availability for the event tonight. Please contact
