Signature Living Developments in Liverpool jobs pledge

LIVERPOOL-based Signature Living Developments – the company behind the White Star Line hotel project on James Street in the city- says it will create 125 jobs this year.
The positions are a mixture of full time and part time construction, administrative and customer service posts across its hotel and serviced apartment portfolio including the former White Star Line HQ at 30 James Street, which Signature Living is converting into a 300-bed hotel. The £7.2m project on the 11-storey property is due to open on April 3.
Signature Living owner Lawrence Kenwright said: “I expect our workforce to have grown to about 250 full time or part time permanent staff members by the end of 2014. We’re recruiting now for various positions at 30 James Street as well as our other venues. We are particularly looking for people with experience in the hotel and leisure services industry, catering as well as administrative support.
“We’ve also spoken to Liverpool City Council about apprentiship opportunities for young people. All together we’re looking at an estimated 125 jobs, there could even be more.”
He descibes Signature Living as “a new kind of hotel operator” as it owns, refurbishes and operates its sites.
Mr Kenwright added: “The business has come such along way since we started with just one apartment in 2008, we are now much more than a provider of hotel rooms, I now see our future in helping to regenerate our great cities. We can do so much better than some of the hastily-erected new builds that we see today.”
Liverpool City Council has welcomed the company’s job creation pledge.
Councillor and cabinet member for employment, enterprise and skills, Nick Small said: “The creation of 125 new jobs through the company’s expansion is welcome news and I look forward to working with the company to help get people into these jobs and to create apprenticeships.”
