Q1 sales ahead at Nichols

REVENUES at Vimto group Nichols are up and the board expects to hit full-year targets.

In an AGM statement covering the first four months, chairman John Nichols said UK sales were ahead of the market and up on the same period last year.

The Haydock-based group, which produces a number of other brands, said export sales were in line with expectations.

Mr Nichols said: “In 2014 we will continue to invest for growth and during April we have introduced the new Vimto branding across the whole range. This is supported by the launch of our new TV campaign featuring the Vimtoad.

“In summary, the board are satisfied with the first four months performance for 2014 and are confident of delivering full year results in line with expectations.”

Originally sold as a health tonic, Vimto is now sold in more than 60 countries, with sales in Africa rising 21% last year. Other brands in the portfolio include a Levi Roots range, Weightwatchers drinks and most-recently an extreme sports and energy drinks product targeted at 18 to 24-year-old men.
