Mason sells St George’s House

A PROPERTY firm owned by recruitment chief Ged Mason has sold St George’s House in Manchester’s Peter Street.

Mr Mason, chief executive of Salford-based Morson Group, bought the building for £5m in 2009 through St George’s Developments.

The 50,000 sq ft block, which is fully occupied, has been upgraded and counts Pizza Express, Café Nero, AFL Architects and STA Travel among its tenants. A private investor is understood to have paid around £9m.

WHR acted for St George’s. The firm’s Dan Crossley said: “This was a particularly satisfying sale instruction after we originally purchased the property for the investor in depths of recession in 2009. At a time when very few owners were able to commit to capital expenditure, WHR project managed the immediate refurbishment of the building and subsequent letting.”

Savills advised the purchaser.
