Bumper letting as Slater & Gordon takes 58 Mosley St

LAW firm Slater & Gordon has confirmed that it is going to relocate 700 staff in Manchester to 58 Mosley Street, in what is the biggest city centre office letting this year.

The Australia-based consumer law specialist has acquired Manchester firms Pannone and Fentons in the last 12 months as part of an aggressive growth drive into this country.

The new Manchester flagship will be Slater & Gordon’s largest office anywhere in the world, as well as being the largest office of any legal firm in Manchester. The firm has taken a lease on the entire 105,000sq ft building, the former headquarters of Cobbetts.

Neil Kinsella, head of UK, said “We want to be able to provide a first class office environment for our clients and staff in Manchester.

“Our staff have been based around several different sites in the city for a number of months and everyone is excited that we now have a schedule for when we will all be working out of one Manchester office.  It was always central to our integration plans to bring the teams at Pannone and Fentons together along with our pre-existing Manchester staff.

“58 Mosley Street provides us with an excellent central location to achieve that goal at 105,000 sq ft provides us with capacity for future growth.”

Refurbishment of the seven storey building will now begin, with the creation of a  new ground floor ‘community space’ a centrepiece of the revamp. STaff will move into their new base from early next year,

Mr Kinsella added: “Our feedback from clients and prospective clients is that they want lawyers and legal advice to be accessible.  The high street community space will be an area where members of the local community can just drop  in, talk to a lawyer over a coffee and access legal information and resources in an approachable and relaxing environment.

“Our goal is always to engage with clients in a way that works for them whether that be over the telephone, in writing, online or in person.”
