Electrical contractor powers up with expansion

AN electrical contractor is wired for growth after expanding into new premises.
AC Electrical (North), based at Bredbury, Stockport, has bought and renovated the next-door premises after a surge in new customers meant it had to find more space. It now plans to double in size over the next three years.
The expansion at the £1m turnover firm, which has 30 staff, comes just over a year after it relocated to premises on Stockport Road West.
AC Electrical delivers maintenance, construction and communications services to a wide range of clients, including Stockport and Manchester councils, schools, hospitals and other divisions of the NHS.
Royal Bank of Scotland which has supported the company since it began trading, has providing a six figure fee-free loan under the Funding for Lending scheme for small businesses.
Managing director Adrian Knowles said: “I started out in 1997 as a sole trader and since then have worked tirelessly to develop the business. The company is based on the ethos of offering a true and honest service for our customers and this has always stood us in good stead. We now have a firm base of clients who we have ongoing and increasingly larger contracts with, in addition to regular project work.
“We moved to Stockport Road West in 2013 and since then have increased the number of office and administration staff we employ. When the opportunity to purchase the building next door came about I knew that it was something we needed to look at as we had already begun to outgrow our existing offices. The new building also offers us plenty of extra capacity to accommodate the planned growth of the business.”
Lynn Hall, relationship manager at RBS added: “We have built up a great relationship with Adrian and the team at AC Electrical over the last 10 years. They have built a solid business by offering a quality service to clients which has in turn secured their longevity and success.”
