Clarke Energy toasts Queen’s Award presentation

CLARKE Energy, the Knowsley-based company which serves the green power market internationally, enjoyed a day of celebration as the business received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
After two senior staff visited Buckingham Palace last month, it was the turn of the rest of the staff at the company to bask in the collective glory as Dame Lorna Muirhead, the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, visited the business, which is a specialist in gas-fuelled combined heat and power for natural gas, biogas,
coal mine gas applications.
Other guests at the ceremony on Friday included Cllr Ron Round, leader of Knowsley Council, Lesley Martin-Wright, chief executive of Knowsley Chamber and Deputy Lieutenant for Merseyside, Clive Drinkwater, director of UKTI in the North West England and Andy Snell, director of international trade at Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.
The visitors were given a presentation outlining Clarke Energy’s business, a tour around the facilities before the presentation of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade.
Peter Holliday, Clarke Energy’s chief financial officer said: “We are delighted to have received this recognition for our performance in international trade from the Queen. This success is due to our focus on delivering high quality gas-fuelled combined heat and power plants, supported by local dedicated service teams.”
Clarke Energy has annual sales of more than £220m and has around 1,000 staff operating in 16 countries. Backed by private equity firm ECI it specialises in the engineering design, installation and long term maintenance of GE’s Jenbacher gas engines in the gas to power generation industry.
Last week the company announced it had signed a deal to work in Algeria for the first time.
