In Brief: Driver4Drivers gets Positive; Merje; Livingcity

WORSLEY-based Driver4Drivers Recruitment has secured a £60,000 funding facility from invoice finance specialists, Positive Cashflow Finance.

The firm specialises in supplying drivers to the haulage and demolition industry throughout the UK.

It was incorporated in January 2013 and achieved sales of £500,000 in its first year.

The business pays drivers on a weekly basis, but typically has to wait 30 days before being paid clients, which has left cashflow tight. The facility has replaced a £10,000 bank overdraft and will allow the firm to increase the number of drivers on its books.

Managing director Paul Harding said: “A lack of funding has held the business back in the past and now we have the facility from Positive, we are able to take on more contracts, knowing we have the cash available to pay the driver’s weekly wages.”

Nick Chapman, business development executive at Positive, said: “Businesses like Paul’s aren’t able to reach their potential due to a lack of funding and we are delighted to be able to provide the support the business needs.”

MERJE, the recruitment consultancy, has been nominated at the prestigious APSCo Awards for Excellence 2014.

It is one of only three UK companies to be shortlisted out of 30 entrants.

The Manchester-based consultancy, which focuses on recruiting mid to senior-level candidates for permanent and contract roles in finance, compliance, anti-money laundering, fraud, and internal audit, is in the sub-£5m turnover Recruitment Company of the Year category.

Director Jonathan Abelson said: “It’s a real honour to be counted amongst the industry’s finest recruitment consultancies. 2013-14 has been a year of continued growth and development at MERJE and this recognition by APSCo is true testament to our commitment to realising our ambitious goals.”
