First class as Diversity Travel lands industry award

DIVERSITY Travel, the Manchester-based travel management company which specialises in the charity, academic and not-for-profit sectors is celebrating another feather in its cap in a milestone year.

The privately-owned company,  which has around 2,000 clients including the Salvation Army and Save The Children International,  was named Business Travel Agency of the Year at the Trade Travel Gazette (TTG) awards in London.

Based on Portland Street Diversity Travel has seen its revenues rise nearly 40%s to £34.4m this year, while staff numbers are up by more than 30% from 67 to 89.

The TTG accolade recognises the company’s innovation, financial stability,  staff development and training, and commitment to the principles of corporate social responsibility.

Managing director Christopher Airey said: “To be named Business Travel Agency of the Year is fantastic recognition for the Diversity Travel team.  

“We’ve also enjoyed a phenomenal year’s growth with a 39% increase in turnover.  This success is a direct result of our staff’s solid commitment to providing outstanding levels of service to clients in the charity and not-for-profit sectors. Some of our new business has come from the academic sector and overseas which has resulted in us opening an office in Australiaand expanding our London operation, to serve clients worldwide.”

The business was launched in 2008 and is 99% owned by executive chairman Harish Sodha.
