Apartment plan for Fallowfield’s Orange Grove

FORMER student favourite, the Orange Grove pub in Fallowfield, Manchester, could be demolished to make way for a block of flats with 40 apartments.

Guernsey-based developer Hamnett Court has lodged plans for a four-storey building on the Wilmslow Road site with 27 two-bed, 10 one-bed and three three-bed apartments.

The designs, by Manchester architect Leach Rhodes Walker, also include four retail units and 29 parking spaces.

Two years ago the brewing group Greene King submitted plans for four retail and two restaurant units at the site but the proposal stalled.

The pub has been closed for several years and in a planning statement Deloitte Real Estate said the apartment block would bring a vacant site back into use.
