Care home firm expands in Preston

LANCASTER-based Samkar is buying a Preston care home for adults with learning and physical disabilities.

The acquisition of 27-bed Bridgeway Care Home from the Priory Group is being financed with a £962,500 funding package from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

Samkar, owned by Sabe and Robert Connor, runs the six-bed Holywell Home care facility for adults with learning disabilities in Morecambe.

A sister business Holywell Domiciliary Care Services supports people at home in Blackburn, Lancaster, Morecambe and Preston, from offices in Morecambe and Preston.

Mrs Connor said: “We are thrilled to be able to acquire Bridgeway Care Home. The staff do a fantastic job in providing much needed care for adults with a range of disabilities and we are keen to be able to support their work and take the home to a new level of care provision.”

Maxine Gay, relationship director at Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “We have enjoyed working with Sabe and Robert on this acquisition and we have been impressed with their knowledge and expertise in the care home sector. We are confident they will be successful in growing the business as they expand the care services they offer to the local community.”
