Auction action: Eddisons and Smith & Sons

EDDISONS said it generated more than £6m at its latest two-day sale in Manchester and Leeds.

Among the highlights was the Europa House office building on the Adlington Business and Industrial Park in Poynton, Cheshire.

The 8,400 sq ft property sold for £370,000, having been offered on the instructions of the LPA Receivers at a guide price of £300,000.

Meanwhile, a part-tenanted commercial opportunity in Urmston, Manchester which produces income of £24,500 a year, sold for £175,000.

Eddisons’ next North West auction takes place in Manchester on Tuesday October 21.

AUCTION house Smith and Sons sold 17 properties, or 70% of lots, at its latest sale and raised £1.5m.

All commercial lots sold and properties with particular demand for commercial units at ground floor level with living accommodation above.

Auctioneer Chris Johnson said: “This September auction is traditionally quiet as people are just returning from the summer holidays and getting back to work, however, we have been pleasantly surprised by the result. A high percentage of properties sold and once again we’ve achieved a strong sales figure.

“We’re keen to hear from more sellers who are looking to secure a quick sale using the auction process, which is probably the most transparent and straight forward way of moving a property on quickly.”
