Atkins takes non-exec role

MANCHESTER Airports Group’s outgoing property chief John Atkins is to take up a non-executive role at Heald Green-based planning consultancy NJL Consulting.

Mr Atkins led the planning and development of the £650m Airport City development before being asked to lead the group’s property portfolio across Manchester, East Midlands, Stansted and Bournemouth airports.

He will step down in December after 24 years at the airport.

NJL’s managing director Nick Lee said: “John’s appointment is a major coup for NJL and will be a huge step forward in our evolution as a commercial planning consultancy.

“John’s appointment reaffirms and builds upon our position in the NW market and beyond. He has decades of experience in the fields of property, planning and regeneration and, together with the commercial expertise of Alan Murch, we are in a really strong position to take the firm forward.”
