Appointments: Express Solicitors, MLP Law, Certas, DS Emotion, Knight Frank

MANCHESTER-based personal injury law firm Express Solicitors has boosted its team with the recruitment of six new fee earners, taking its total number of employees to 164.

Jennifer Lutton, Andrew Thorpe and Fatima Bakare have been appointed as assistant solicitors; Chris Power and Gary Mullineaux join as senior litigation executives and Elenor Fleming as a litigation executive.

Partner Daniel Slade said: “The new appointments are part of our growth strategy, which will see us appoint at least one fee earner per month, sometimes more. Our new recruits will be working across our road traffic accident, employers’ liability, public liability and occupiers’ liability departments, giving added support to our ever busy teams and ensuring high levels of service are maintained despite increasing caseloads.”

In the year to September income grew from £7.2m to £8.7m. The firm specialises in personal injury and accident claims, clinical negligence claims and serious injury cases and comprises 164 employees including 54 fee earners and 15 partners.

MLP LAW, formally Myers Lister Price, has appointed Theo Hoppen as head of family law.

The firm said Hoppen has over nine years’ of family law experience, advising on a range of issues including cohabitation disputes, pre-nuptial agreements and children matters.

He has joined from Ward Hadaway in Leeds and will be responsible for managing the family law division, and leading on plans for the team’s expansion.

He said: “I’m looking forward to strengthening MLP Law’s reputation in the family law sector, building on the firm’s existing achievements and ensuring that the team continues to provide an excellent and reliable service to its clients.”

WARRINGTON fuel and lubricant distributor Certas Energy has appointed Jack Lavington as its new director of operations.

Lavington will have the responsibility for the company’s operations functions across England and Wales.

Based in the London, his remit will include transport, logistics, and all other operational activity. He will also offer support and advice to operations in Scotland.

MARKETING agency DS.Emotion has made two senior appointments at its Manchester office.

Tom Heaton has joined as creative director and Jennifer Jones has been appointed as account manager.

Heaton has joined from Raw Design Studio in Manchester while Jones was previously working at HGA Creative Communications.

DS.Emotion has offices in Leeds and London and opened in Manchester last year when directors Angus Armitage and Matt Button joined forces with Victoria Russell of iworx.

The agency is focused on the property sector and has experience in place marketing and regeneration projects. It has delivered campaigns for Carnaby Street in London, Trinity Leeds, and The Rock Bury. Current campaigns include Bridgefield, Stockport, Axis Tower and 55 Spring Gardens Manchester.

KNIGHT Frank has appointed James Clark as a graduate building surveyor in its project and building consultancy team.

He will be based in the firm’s Manchester office where he will work with clients across the North West, assisting with instructions ranging from pre-acquisition and dilapidations surveys through to workplace consultancy and contract administration.

Clark joins a team led by partner Simon Matley and including senior surveyor David Whitney and surveyor James Ingle.

In the past six months the agency has worked on: the design and fit out of Ecclesiastical’s new 8,500 sq ft office in St. Ann’s House, Manchester; the project monitoring of Portergate Properties £12.5m student housing development in Preston; and the project monitoring of SIRA’s new £4m headquarters in Hawarden Business Park, Flintshire.
