Sharks for sale as aquatic centre seeks lifeline

AN East Lancashire aquatic centre, where three sharks were funded by Dave Fishwick, is looking for a buyer.

Owner Steve Punchard is working with Begbies Traynor in Manchester to try and find someone to take on the business which is based in Great Harwood, near Blackburn.

If no offers are forthcoming the stock, including the sharks, will be sold off.

Dave Fishwick, whose efforts to set up Burnley Loans and Savings were captured in the Bank of Dave TV show, provided a loan to the business in 2012 to enable it to buy three blacktop reef sharks. It was the venture’s first to be repaid in full.

Begbies partner Paul Stanley said: “The sharks will need to find a home if a buyer can’t be found for the business.”

A sale of stock at the centre started on Friday, with management pledging they will ensure live stock goes to the “right home”.
