Mulbury to revive stalled Lancs resi scheme

AFFORDABLE housing developer Mulbury Homes has partnered with Together Housing Group to revive a long- abandoned development in Lancashire.

Lymm-based Mulbury will work with the social landlord to build 21 homes on Knotts Lane, a development which was left partially-built when the previous developer went into liquidation more than a decade ago.

The family homes, situated on a former garage site, will be made available for social rent by Housing Pendle, part of the Blackburn-based Together Housing Group.

Janette Taylor, head of Housing Pendle, said: “The £3m scheme will provide 15 two-bedroom houses and six three-bedroom houses, some of which include integral garages and will provide families with high-quality housing that will help people deal with fuel poverty.

“This is a real boost for the people of the borough and will put this part of Colne back on the map.”

Greg Mulligan, director of Mulbury Homes, added: “This project ends 10 years of uncertainty for local residents. It will see the refurbishment of six part-built homes, the completion of 10 more under a historic planning consent and the construction of five new units under a new planning consent. It’s a scheme that once again demonstrates our expertise for developing difficult sites.

“After investing heavily in our construction expertise, this will also be our first project as main contractor and we are looking forward immensely to working with our partners to deliver a quality product.”

Mulbury as secured the site and preparations are being made for building work to begin in January. The project is expected to be completed by December 2015.
