Trafford launches R&D initiative

TRAFFORD Council and accountants and business advisors Beever and Struthers have joined forces to help firms claim research and development (R&D) tax credits.

Manchester-based Beever and Struthers was selected by the Council as a partner after it secured the largest number of new clients in its 116-year history.

The R&D tax credit service has been set up to enhance the existing business support delivered by Trafford Council’s Economic Growth Team, which acts as the authority’s first point of contact for businesses.

Trafford Council’s executive member for economic growth and planning, Cllr Michael Hyman, said the council was committed to helping local businesses grow and prosper.

“The R&D tax credit scheme provides a fantastic incentive for businesses to invest in innovative activities, but many eligible businesses are not yet aware of the scheme or may not realise that what they are doing counts as R&D,” he said.

Beever and Struthers tax partner Jacquie Adams said she was impressed by the support being offered by the Council.

“We know how much our clients appreciate the R&D tax break and how it has helped them financially and are sure that these claims will make an impact on the local economy,” she said.
