Appointments: Yellow bus boss on the move; Mills & Reeve & more

BUS and coach hire firm Belle Vue Manchester has recruited a manager from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to spearhead a new contracts division.

Mike Mitchell, 48, spent 14 years at TfGM, latterly as its Yellow School Bus project manager.

His role at Stockport-based Belle Vue will see him oversee the company’s tendering processes, contract compliance and performance in its core education market, and helping to develop new business opportunities.

Belle Vue director Phil Hitchen said: “This is a significant appointment for the business as we seek to increase our market share in the education sector.”

Mitchell said he plans to add further recruits to the new division as Belle Vue looks to double its £3m turnover over the next three years.

THE Lowry Hotel in Salford has appointed Adrian Ellis as the new general manager of the five-star facility.

Mr Ellis, aged 51, has 24 years’ experience of managing luxury properties in the UK, Europe and Asia, and is returning the the city for the first time since 1999 when he was in charge of the Manchester Marriott V&A – formerly the Victoria and Albert Hotel.

He has joined the Lowry from his role as general manager of the 318-bedroom Fairmont Baku Hotel in Azerbaijan where he spent more than three years.

Mr Ellis succeeds Peter Kienast who is leaving The Lowry Hotel after five years to become general manager of Rocco Forte’s Hotel de Rome in Berlin.

THE Manchester office of national law firm Mills & Reeve has made two appointments as part of its  growth plans.

James Ankers has joined the growing real estate team from Gateley in Birmingham. Carrie Moss has meanwhile been appointed to the marketing team as a bid adviser. She was previously at AFL Architects.

Niall Innes, head of the Manchester office, said: “We are delighted to welcome James and Carrie on board as we continue to focus on boosting headcount in Manchester.”

LANCASHIRE accountants and business advisers Cassons has added two recruits to its team.

Simon Read strengthens the accountancy department as an audit and accounts senior, while Victoria Frost joins the tax team as a mixed tax senior.

Read joins Blackburn-based Cassons from Baker Tilly and Frost from Manchester firm White and Company.
