Curtain rises on staging company swoop

LIGHTING sound and stage solutions provider Northern Stage Services has snapped-up  Lancelyn Lighting and Lancelyn Theatre Supplies.

Oldham-based Northern Stage Services, whose client list includes the RIBA award-winning Liverpool Everyman Theatre, Brio Leisure and Manchester Communications Academy, acquired the Oxford business to enhance its national reach.

Northern Stage Services managing director, Patrick Collin, said: “Lancelyn has long history in both Oxford and The Wirral and its customers very much value the service given by its skilled design, manufacturing and installation teams.

“Similarly, Northern Stage Services has built up a solid reputation within the industry through our ability to work on larger, more specialised projects across theatres, education, hotel & leisure, and local authority buildings.

“Together we have an incredibly strong offering in the marketplace that very few companies in the UK will be able to match encompassing design, installation, sales and hire of specialist systems across the industry.”

Set up in 1980, Northern Stage Services currently employs 25 people at its base in Shaw.

Oxford-based Lancelyn Lighting and Lancelyn Theatre Supplies, which also has a base in Wirral, was set up in 1970 and employs 24 people.

Collin added: “I’m incredibly optimistic about the value we can add for our customers across the UK with the help and support of the very talented and skilled staff from both Northern Stage Services and Lancelyn Lighting and Lancelyn Theatre Supplies.”

A new company name will be announced in the coming weeks, and it is expected the new venture will continue to operate out of all three Northern Stage Services Ltd and Lancelyn Lighting and Lancelyn Theatre Supplies sites.
