ACCOUNTANTS and business advisers BDO has hired Sean Mitchell as a tax director in the region.

Mitchell joins BDO after 17 years with Grant Thornton in Manchester. He specialises in advising entrepreneurs and mid-market firms on UK and international corporate tax matters, with specific expertise in the real estate and construction sector.

SPECIALST contracts lawyer Phil Brown has joined the corporate team at Lancashire-based Napthens solicitors.

Brown will advise businesses on a range of commercial contracts including software licensing agreements, outsourcing projects, international distribution arrangements and e-commerce, and brings more than a decade of high level specialist expertise to the firm.

He has particular experience in the manufacturing and technology sectors and has spent time working in private practice for law firms in Leeds, as well as in-house for Inspired Gaming Group, a multi-national gaming technology company in London.

Keith Melling, head of corporate at Napthens, said: “Phil has been involved in a number of specialist projects in his career including assisting clients entering new markets in South America and Asia.

AFFORDABLE housing developer and regeneration specialist Lovell has appointed Tahreen Shad as business development manager for its North West and North Wales region.

Based at the company’s regional office in Barrington Road, Altrincham, she will help drive the continuing expansion of the company’s open market and affordable housing business across the region and further develop its relationships with key social housing providers.

Lovell regional director Nigel Yates says:  “Tahreen brings outstanding housing and business development expertise and is another valuable addition to our regional team.”

CHESTER-based architectural, building surveying and planning consultancy, Cassidy and Ashton, has made two additions to its team in response to growing demand for its town planning services.
 
Planning consultant Andrew Hale has relocated to the firm’s Chester office to bring extra resource to the Chester team, which is currently progressing planning applications for more than 50 projects across the UK.
 
The firm has also appointed planning consultant, Amy Aspinall, to its Preston office. With more than nine years’ specialist experience, Aspinall is a graduate of Liverpool John Moores University and has held previous roles as council planning officer at St Helen’s Council, Fylde Council and Cheshire East Council.
 
Guy Evans, chartered town planner at Cassidy and Ashton, said: “In addition to huge demand for residential schemes, we’ve seen growth in the number of commercial projects that are coming to fruition.

CHESHIRE-based DJS Research has announce 10 new additions to its expanding team, and five internal promotions, as the company gears up for new growth targets.

The market research company says it is on course to beat its turnover target of £3.3m to project it into the top 100 market research agencies in the UK.

The company says during the calendar year for 2014, it expanded in all areas of the business, including research, marketing and business development and operations.

DJS’s newrecruits are junior research executives Faye Waterhouse, Callum McCulloch, George Telford, research executive Emma Lay, senior research executive Lian Nuttall, research managers Rebecca Harris and David Marchant.
 
Alongside the new appointments within the research department is Beth Harcourt who joined the marketing and business development team as Marketing and communications assistant.
