Accountancy firm aims for stratospheric growth

LYTHAM St Annes-based accountancy firm Danbro has revealed a five year plan to more than double staff, clients and turnover.
The ambitious company believes its mantra of “great service delivered by great people” will see its turnover climb from its present £174m to £500m and increase its workforce to from the current 185 to 500.
It is also targeting 16,000 clients from today’s level of 7,000.
Staff at the firm were told of the target objective by co-founder and managing director Damian Broughton after fellow Lancashire company Conlon Construction handed over keys to Danbro’s new headquarters, Jubilee House, overlooking Lytham Green.
The company, launched by Broughton and wife Helen in the box room of their family home in Warton in 1999, now occupies more than 60,000sq ft of office space.
The business offers umbrella, payroll, traditional accountancy and financial services to small businesses, contractors and freelancers.
This month it was named Employer of the Year in the county’s Red Rose Awards and, for the second year appeared in the London Stock Exchange’s 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.
Mr Broughton said: “We aim to double our staff, clients and turnover by offering a great service delivered by great people.”
“The growth will come mainly through organic growth, providing excellent services to the growing Freelancer and Contractor marketplace.
“As well as that we intend to bolt on further services that we can offer our clients, like financial services and maybe even legal services. Aquisitions are also part of the plan, as we believe that our market is ripe for consolidation.
“We will remain wholly independent for the time being, but we would not rule out a deal with a private equity firm.
“It is always an attractive option as these companies bring a greater breadth of experience, and will help with identifying companies that may become part of our Group. They also bring the resources and ability to grow at a faster pace.”
In the tax year to March 31 2014, Danbro made a pre-tax profit of £4.7m on a turnover of £169.7m.
