Go-ahead for 105 Lake District homes

PLANNING permission has been granted for a development of 105 new homes in the Lake District town of Kendal.

Acting on behalf of Story Homes, Manchester-HOW Planning submitted an outline application for the new homes on a greenfield site at Kendal Parks Farm which has now been given the go-ahead by South Lakeland District Council.

The 4.98 ha site had been allocated for residential development in the Local Plan Land Allocations and the council says approved scheme will better utilise its potential, ensuring the land has a more effective contribution to the needs of Kendal and provide much needed new homes for the town.

Plans also incorporate areas of open space, landscaping, a children’s play area and all associated infrastructure works to facilitate the scheme.

Victoria Hunter, planner at HOW Planning said:  “Story Homes has taken great care to ensure the scheme reflects the character of Kendal and surrounding area.

“Approval ensures it can now deliver an extensive residential development which will appeal to a broad range of individuals and families by providing a variety of high quality housing choices.”
