Property briefs: Novo Property Group; Barrow Hall Primary School;

THE site of a former garage and workshop in the Cheshire town of Altrincham has been sold for residential development.

The site Back Grafton Street, which has outdated planning consent, has been sold unconditionally for £310,000 and will be developed by Novo Property Group.

A planning application has been submitted for 14 residential apartments with a decision pending.

Alexander Clarke, acquisitions director of Novo, said: “This is an ideal site for residential development in the heart of the town but in a quiet location close to the Goose Green courtyard with its choice of independent restaurants and leisure facilities, which will be enhanced as part of the three year £6m project to transform the centre of Altrincham.

“We believe that the demand for residential accommodation both from the new hospital and surrounding areas will see the creation of a welcome and sought after residential element in the town to complement the desirable neighbourhoods of Hale and Bowden.  This is certainly evident by the interest we have already received from potential purchasers”.

Daniel Lee, director of Regional Property Solutions, who acted for the vendor Peter Shaw Property, said: “The building on the site had been vacant for some time and become a bit of a local eyesore and with the increasing demand for residential accommodation in the town centre this proposed development is perfect timing.”

A PLANNING application has been submitted to Warrington Borough Council for a new state-of-the-art primary school at the Omega South site.

The scheme, if approved, will replace the current primary school buildings on Barrow Hall Lane.

Construction of the new Barrow Hall Primary School will start in the summer with planned completion in time for the start of the new school year in September 2016.

WBC’s plan to increase school places in the town is also ongoing with the expansion through significant investment at St Phillip’s (Westbrook) CE Primary and Chapelford Village Primary schools.
