Transport firm revs up for further expansion

LIVERPOOL-based transport and warehousing firm 3TL is ramping up its operations after its most successful year of trading by leasing a further 17,500sq ft of storage space on its dock road site.

3TL has seen rapid expansion at its Trafalgar Dock and Bramley Moore Dock premises since founding in 2009 as a steel and timber storage and transport specialist.

Director Sheila Ruane said the extra space will double the size of its Bramley Moore Dock operation to 35,000 sq ft and is necessary to cope with additional demand in both timber and steel markets.

“The economy and the construction trade are bouncing back and consequently timber and steel are in greater demand nationwide,” she said.

“We store and distribute the timber and steel for a broad collection of merchants. The majority of the timber is shipped in from the United States, Canada and the Far East while the steel comes from India and China.

“With this latest expansion of the Bramley Moore Dock shed, our overall warehousing operation including Trafalgar Dock now covers more than 95,000sq ft.

” In addition we have 86 shipping containers used as self storage units. We are especially grateful to our landlord Peel Holdings for its cooperation in helping 3TL grow its operations in line with demand.”

Ruane said 3TL has increased its staff from two to 14 in six years and is looking forward to further expansion as the Liverpool2 deepwater container terminal becomes operational.
