Go Outdoors signs up for Piccadilly Basin

PROPERTY company Town Centre Securities has lured a second tenant to its landmark Piccadilly Basin site in Manchester.

Independent lifestyle firm Go Outdoors has agreed terms for 55,000sq ft of the site, formerly occupied by Scandinavian furniture company Ilva.

Discount supermarket chain Aldi was the first tenant on the vacated site on the inner city-centre ring road. The letting to Go Outdoors, means the site, now called Urban Exchange, is 60% let.

There are now just two remaining units on the ground floor of the building.

Edward Ziff, chairman and chief executive of Leeds-based Town Centre Securities said: ‘I am delighted by our progress in letting this and other properties in what is a very challenging retail environment.

“Go Outdoors are a very well established retailer operating in a growth market and I am confident that they, along with existing tenant Aldi, will assist in re-establishing Urban Exchange as a major retail destination.”

TCS said it had also agreed to let a shop in its Shandwick Place Estate in Edinburgh to hearing aid firm Amplifon, which has its UK headquarters in Manchester, on a 10-year lease.
