Booths back on home turf for latest launch

BOOTHS has returned to its home territory for its latest store opening.

The upmarket, family-owned company based in Preston has created 60 full and part-time jobs at its new 30,000 sq ft store in Burscough, Lancashire.

Chairman Edwin Booth said; “I’m delighted to open Booths in Burscough. Lancashire is our heartland and some of the country’s finest produce is grown in the region.

“Booths is a food retailer like no other—proudly Northern, family run and independent. We take pride in our close links to our farmers and producers as well as the communities in which we trade.”

“We work hard to develop strong and meaningful relationships with artisan suppliers both locally and globally. Retailing exceptional food and drink is the essence of Booths, and coupled with great knowledge and service, is what sets Booths apart from the crowd and marks us as special.”

Since June 1847, six generations of the Booth family have led the business, which now has more than 30 food, wine and grocery stores across Lancashire, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

The new store contains a café and fresh food counters, including a butcher, fishmonger, delicatessen, hot food and cheesemonger.

To mark the opening, Booths created a sculpture from local fruit and vegetables. It was decorated with more than 30kg of fresh rhubarb, cabbages, leeks, spring onions, carrots, radishes, kale, lemons, celery, runner beans, fennel, fresh herbs and berries.

Alongside a store opening programme which includes Hale Barns, south Manchester and St Anne’s, Booths is closing two sites on the Fylde coast  at Ansdell and Marton, later this year.
